Discover our coastal towns’ history, tales of the sea and much more…
Visitors from throughout the country and around the globe have discovered that The Brick Store Museum is not just a dusty attic. Whether you love tales of the sea, exquisite period furniture or simple toys from early America, you’ll find what you are looking for…and a lot more that you weren’t expecting.
The Brick Store Museum was founded in 1936 by Edith Cleaves Barry, who created a repository for her family’s artworks and collections in a brick dry goods store she inherited from her great grandfather, the wealthy merchant and shipowner William Lord. Today, that 1825 structure is the focal point of the Museum’s Main Street complex encompassing five historical buildings showcasing nearly 70,000 artifacts and archival materials relating to the heritage of the Kennebunks. A vibrant resource for all, The Brick Store Museum is committed to preserving regional history.
Open year round, The Brick Store Museum is located at 117 Main Street at the Junction of Routes 1 and 35 in the center of downtown Kennebunk.
